Yesterday, I was with some friends in Hood River, Oregon. I needed to get to Oregon City. I wanted to show him sights that were new to him rather than going back via the freeway. I knew a back way that went over some pretty rugged roads very close to Mt. Hood. (more…)

Back in October, my favorite cookie company filed for bankruptcy. The great cookies disappeared from the shelf. Most notably missed are the Gauchos. They are a peanut butter sandwich cookie that, in my ever so humble opinion, are ten times better than Nutter Butter.

Then in December, Kellogg’s announced that they were buying the brand and some of the recipes.  Last week, I started seeing them on the shelves. I spent twenty minutes looking for the Gauchos. They weren’t there. I’ve gone to other stores, other chains, and looked on line. Still no Gauchos.

Where are they? I want my Gauchos! Help me get them back. Go to Kellogg’s Contact Us page and ask them to bring back Gauchos.

I wouldn’t call myself a die-hard trekkie, although I’ve seen all of the original series many times over and have now seen all of the movies. I don’t collect any memorabilia and I don’t memorize a lot of facts about the franchise. I just have always liked it. (more…)

Last year, someone circulated an email warning that the Oregon State Police were planning an initiative to write as many speeding tickets in the Portland area as they could in order to raise revenue. The state police issued a response to the email calling it false. Lieutenant Gregg Hastings stated that Oregon state police do not operate speed traps. (more…)

I’ve never liked meat much, but I’ll eat it. I detest it when it’s the least bit rare. I learned to like it even less one year. In about 1976, I was young, single, handsome, and thin. Just look at the picture. That shirt was very thin. I don’t think I could even get the collar around my arm now. (more…)

I bought my first car when I was 18 years old, shortly after I graduated from high school. I know that was fairly late for most people, but I did not learn how to drive until after high school. My parents didn’t have money for lessons and I couldn’t take them at school. My father didn’t have the patience to teach me.

I stumbled across this wonderful stuff. It’s called Buttery Sweet Corn All Natural Soup made by Pacific Natural Foods in Tualatin, Oregon.  It has a wonderful, sweet corn taste. I first bought it thinking it looked interested. Cooked up by itself, it’s delicious. (more…)

I imagine it is a problem in most parts of the country, but here in Multnomah County, Oregon, where I live and work, it is nearly impossible for a person with a felony on his record to find housing. I’m not talking about myself. My record is clean. I have clients for whom this is not true. (more…)
